What happens to orphans...
when they become too old for the orphanage?
Sadly, most end up as
statistics. Those unfortunate enough to be "emancipated" into a
fractured economy such as post-Soviet Eastern Europe . . .
- Become the prime targets for slave and sex
traffickers;
- Are recruited into organized crime and
prostitution;
- May succumb to drugs and alcohol; or
- End up as the 1 child out of 10 who cannot
cope, and instead commits suicide within one year of leaving the
orphanage.
Very, very few
manage to continue their education, to get a job or to establish a
'normal' family life with any degree of success.
With your help, we can change the
destiny of these deserving children.
Today there are over 100
million orphans in the world. Many organizations help them by
facilitating the adoption of orphan babies and young children. Haven
Bridge exists to support the older children who are left behind.
We are pioneering programs to
assist teen orphans as they transition from the orphanage into the
adult world.
